Wooden Salad bowl CFL reflector

Please wait until I have everything posted before making comments.

What you need:
Salad Bowls
Tin foil
Spray glue
¼ inch drill bit (Size not real important, to make a pilot hole)
1 ¼ inch hole saw (or just large enough the base of the CFL fits in it)
Duct tape (Optional, not shown)
Razor knife or scissors. (Not shown)

EDIT: After posting I have been educated that foil is not the best to use. I am leaving my original post as is but spray painting flat white paint side the bowl will give better results. I posted what I had and how I did it. Skip the foil and spray glue and use white spray paint. All other steps are the same.

Spray the complete inside of the bowl with the spray glue including the rim. Wait a few minutes for the glue to get tacky.
Carefully press the tin foil (shiner side up) into the center bottom and work around the inside.
Try and smooth as much as possible and leave no air bubbles. Let the glue set for five minutes.

Use the hole saw to cut a hole out of the center of the bowl. Drill from the inside out and alight the saws guide bit into the pilot hole you drilled in the last step. SLOWLY drill the whole out of the bowl. If the glue had time to set, there should be no or very little tearing of the tin foil.

Put your CLF base through the hole from the inside of the bowl and screw into your socket that is at the real of the bowl. There will probably be a little “slop” between the CLF and the bowl. If you’re going to hang vertically only then the reflector is done. If you want to hang horizontally and don’t want the “slop” of the bowl, continue.

i guess i'll be the first to tell u tin foil is out. flat white paint is in. besides that great ingenuity! *tin foil allegedly produces "hot spots" that burn the leaves.

Ok, thats it. For those who don't like tin foil I guess you could chrome spray paint the bowl or glue on mylar...

The thing about this is you can take it all apart, stack the bowls, and store them when not in use and they should also last awhile.

Ok...I learned! Tin foil BAD!
Here is the bowl with flat white spray paint...I even painted over the tin foil one. The paint is a lot cheaper than the spray glue also.
It is still a stackable and store-able design that should hold up to use and abuse.

Hey, I'm learning. I think everyone at one time thought tin foil was good.

At my market they sell these "wicked" little stainless steel bowls, they are about the same size (maybe a bit smaller diameter) but are at least two or three times as deep. I think they would give better "directionality" because they extend "just beyond" the CFL's coils. I've been meaning to write this idea up - but DAMN, you beat me to it! Excellent idea, we need more ideas for really good CFL reflectors, especially individual CFL's! REP!

T.H. Cammo,
I fooked up and instead of giving rep back, I took it. I'll make it right! I need to spread a little but you'll get it back +

Hey T.C. Cammo, maybe I did add rep...
I been drinking. Let me know if it shows I added or took. The default is to add and maybe I read the pop up wrong. Not trying to screw anyone here.
