looking at putting a grow tent in a large garage and was wondering is it possible to cut a opening for the window ac on the side of a 10 x 10 tent to make it work?

On the bottom of my 4x8 tent there is a vent flap that has breathable mesh. It is the perfect height for my window AC to sit outside of it on the ground and blow air in it. All grow tents (I have seen) have that vent flap. I have a 4K btu AC that works perfect, it may actually be overkill cause I never have it at full blast. Hope this helps.

The problem is now, that your going to be really heating the air inside that garage! How are you getting that air exchange in the garage? Truthfully, I would say NO, Don't! There are other solutions that would work out far better in the long run....
What are your lighting set ups going to be? Tell us how many too!
How are you controlling RH?
Gassing?
How important is smell control?
What about the cold months?
Where are you in the country?
All of these things will be directly impacting the needed level and type of cooling.
Help us out and give us the lowdown. Then we can help you out....With quality answers.
It doesn't drain...you may be thinking of something else.

Midwest cold months late October to march. 16000 watts 8000 bloom flip flop 8000 veg running a monthly perpetual cycle 35 day veg 70 day flower smell will be controlled with 2 6 inch or 8 inch inline duct fan with carbon filter per 10 x 10 to scrub and cool light. 1 per pair of lights. can run dehumidifiers for humidity. I'm thinking 200 amp service will be enough to run everything safely depending on size of ac needed if we have to upgrade. I have looked into the hydro innovations chill boxes but I'm not sure if they would work and I've read that they produce condensation
Maybe I misunderstood. When I read the word "drain" I was thinking of an A/C that's cooled with a water source. Yea there is drops of water.

Drops will turn to puddles in a tent. The act of air conditioning naturally degumidifies.the process of that condensates the humidity into water. Water in a window unit typically drips out back.

The new window ac units dont drain. They have a pan that collects the water and the fan blades dip into it bringing droplets up into the path of rushing air which evaps it all... pretty cool idea..

But it exhausts outdoors where the water evaporates. This plan is a fail, youd be better off with a mini split ac unit.

That is prety cool. If your dehuey can handel it that means window units are now portable. Put it on casters move it anywhare. Ends the days of a single window unit being all you need for a small room. Now you will need a ac unit and dehumidifier

Hopefully it's the path of the exhaust and not the supply. A big point of a.c. is humidity control. Goes out the window when you start adding back in

This line of thinking is all wrong, You will just create heat not remove it, the heat has to go somewhere, like out the window i=on a window ac.

The water is actually splashed onto the condenser coil to evaporate it and yup it does work most of the time but not always so you may get a bit on the floor. As for will it work? Yup it will but as stated, you'll be heating the garage and if you can get rid of that then, while far from being a perfect solution, would work I guess. Also Doc mentioned odour and the window unit may allow some to pass through unfiltered but mine works well to not let odours get outside when the partner smokes a big fatty in the smoking room lol. I put a thick carbon sheet in my filter rack and it helps for a bit.

it wont cool the garage, or remove humidity. You want an exhaust not all these heat sources.

id just hook a box up to the back and run a hose to it with a booster fan to a window
