Only if you get an auto flowering strain, and even then it might be to small. I have started with 3in clones and have them be 3ft with in two months

Definitely. Any noises that the grow might make won't sound out of place coming from the stand. And i mean hey people grow in pc cases. That space is enormous when compared.

Look into scroging for that small of a space though. It will be the only way to get anything worth while.

heres what you do. Flower immediately. SCROG method might work. Practice Super Cropping. You should be good.

That sounds like a more versatile operation. More space is always better than less. I say do that.

ok but about how far should i keep my lights from my plants?
Cfl can be right up on the plants... 2-3 inches if you have adequate ventilation.

Edit: I can see us going back and forth here for a while so let me say this. The more specific your question or questions are the more specific your answers will be. I'll try to help the best i can.

personally Id say CFLS are better. But thats just out of my experience. I have no evidence but personal bias to back my info.

Day light CFLS for VEG. Soft White for Flower.

im thinking of 4 x 400W blue HIDs for veg in one room and 6 x600W red HID for the flowering room. each room door will be sealed off with plastic so the only vent is the open window, and even that has a curtain to prevent light leak. ONE extractor fan in each room sucking air from room into the attic and because the room is sealed off the air should come in through the window right? and the air thats been put in the attic should escape through the attic window (or is that a bit too hot) would this work?

Im using 8 27 Watt Soft White CFLS.

My setup. ( Old Photo, plants are a lot larger)
and got rid of that large single bulb.

do you use the soft white throughout the whole cycle? how much yield do you obtain per plant using CFLs i heard the lumen output isnt that great and that they are only good for veging clones

You guys are asking alot of questions that can be answersed by reading the "How to grow marijuana" section of the newbie central subforum. Here's the link

https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/937-how-grow-marijuana.html

Here's a link to the "things to know about lighting" section of the general marijuana growing subforum for the lighting questions:

ive done a few successful grows using HIDs, i just wanted to see if anyone had any success out there using CFLs as it will reduce costs a lot. Has anyone heard of or tried using the new UFO LED lights i heard good things about them

Thats cool. I think you're questions from before can still be answered by those links though:mrgreen:.

Also if you do a quick search on RUI using keywords like "CFL" you'll find an overwhelming amount of info on them and probably plenty of answers to your yield questions. There are some growers on here that are really pulling some weight with just cfls. It's all about the needs of your growing situation.

Same thing for the LED UFO's, a quick search on here will give you a wealth of info and experienced posts.

To give you a quick response about the leds. They're alright... i mean i've seen spectacular grows with them and i've seen rather mediocre grows with them. Their deal seems to be if you can pack enough of them into your grow space with some other supplemental lighting, or just use them as supplemental lighting you can grow a decent amount. However when used purely on their own leds in general don't pack enough of a punch yet. You end up with spindly weak looking growth and next to nothing in the bud department. Don't get me wrong led's will get there, just not yet.

BTW you will probably find the same question and relatively the same answers on many other threads when you do your search. If you're really interested in leds you'll look up the luxion star leds and build your own custom array.

GL, hope this was more helpful.
