Will these cfl work?

I have some cfl that i bought at home depot, i got four 23 watts that are bright white and 1500 lumens. They have the daylight cfls but are doubled the price and will give me less lumens. WIll bright light cfls work to grow?

Man i would take those lights back if i were you. Bright white is 3500K and is very ineffective for growing smoke. Daylight which is 6500K or Full Spectrum which is 5000K is what you need for optimum vegitation. Then when you start flowering the plants switch to 2700K or Warm White lights. If you can't get Daylight or full spectrum then you CAN veg with Warm White lights or Soft white 2700K-3000K but i would stay away from the bright white and cool white bulbs 3500K-4000K.

Thanks for your info, i guess i'll take those back and just get soft white lights, i have a very small grow box where i plan on flowering almost right away. So would it be a good idea to just go with the soft whites?

Only if you can't find (6500K Daylight) (5000K Full Spectrum) or (2700K Warm White)

by the way, i can get daylight but wont be high wattage or really high in lumens, does that matter?

Yeah and shop around. Look at Walmart - Lowes - Ace Hardware or any hardware store for that matter. Youll find some my friend.

No that does'nt matter just keep them within 1-2 inches away from the plant. Check out my grow journal. I got day by day pics with cfl's.

ye dude shop around! i was picking up warm white bulbs from my local asda for 67p each in a sale they had ther! not that i use them for anything apart from veg, but hey at tha price i could,nt leave them ther, i probly got bout 40 of um put aside, trouble is most manufacturers dont put the lumens or colour on boxes for household bulbs.

That picture is too small what spectrum are those and how many watts?

thats tight, so a 19 watt 840 lumens are a good bet? i would prooly only be able to fit three. sorry to be dumb, i just want succesfull grow. Appreciate all the help.

That looks like another crappy home depot bulb. Make sure it says WARM WHITE or 2700K or DAYLIGHT WHITE or 6500K. Thats what you need really.

n:vision 27 Watt Daylight Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL), 1 Pack - 5M82755K at The Home Depot

Nah get these 27 watt bulbs. Those will work just fine. Keep them an inch or less away from the plant but not touching. Since it is 6500K it will be a very cool light so youll be able to control the temperatures easy.

If you really want some good CFL's for vegitation then go with these my man. This is what i got.

those are the ones i had, but they where an hair to big and broke when i tried to close the case. maybe if i just slant then a little?
