Will my home made grow box work okay?

This will be my first grow ever but I have been looking into it for about 5 months now, doing reserch and reading on forums and growing sites. I need to know if my home made grow box will work.
basically i used about a 4 foot tall, 3 foot wide cardboard box. I cut a door in the front of it that can easly be opened and closed yet still closes tightly.
I painted the inside with flat white spray paint and I have a 125w heat lamp at the top center of it, but the light from it is blocked off from hitting the plants directly with a reflrctive plate. I also have two small/medium grow lights on the left and right side of the box near the top. I have a thermometer in there that has all the light blocked from hitting it directly as well so it will read the actual temp. inside the box. The box seems to stay between 8O and 84 degrees inside. I also have a small box attached to the left side of the main box near the top with a small low powered fan in it for air intake, on the lower right side I have a small low powered computer fan for air exit.

Does this sound like it will work to you guys?

I have seen planty of people on here grow plants in a small space like that and get good results!( I am currently growing in a cardboard box about the same size as yours) They also vegged for about 4-5 weeks, you can veg almost however long you want(You can run out of space if you go too long)But if u just tie down and top them, they will be the coolest lil bushes u ever seen! :bigjoint:

on further inspection of this post i find it disturbing that people would use cardboard boxes to grow in undoubtadly looking for a house fire would be the best idea to change plans and use some form of compressed chipwood boarding or as some say cupboards.....come on guys get ya heads together im not even that stupid...

Also now that im thinking about it we(both using cardboard boxes!!!) need to figure out a way to keep ALL light from getting in the box in flowering when the lights are off! I could tape it shut and all but, i would need to untape it so i could water and feed the babys!(who wants to do that!) Im thinking i could put a trash bag over it, but when i put a fan on the box the bag will cover that,i could cut a hole in the bag so the fan could work but then how will i keep light from coming through the fan? I think imma post a help topic about this, should help us both out!!

heres a tip quickest way to get rid of paint odour use a onion cut the onion in half and leave it on a shelf in the room ur growing in <not actually in the growroom> for a few hours...ull soon notice the difference when the smells gone.

USE A TUBE that your fan fits into AND AT THE END OF THAT TUBE MAKE SOME SORT OF FILTER THAT FILTER WILL THEN BLOCK THE LIGHT GOIN THROUGH TO YOUR GROWROOM...

i use 3 sheets over my box at night times just before lights out so no light at all can get into the box quite simple really but i have the benefit of using doors to water them etc....

i have a whole room that isnt ever used for anything and is compleatly dark, i have the grow box boxed in with unused matresses and the widow has a curtain on it and the room stays pretty dark, my grow box doesnt have any holes in it big enough for light to come in through really any way. i will just water with the lights off during flowering and i have a timer set up for floweing and it is set for most of the hours of darknes to be at night time. i will post some pictures, i just dont know how to actually get them on here. Could someone tell me how to do that?

It doesnt look much bigger than mine. i think you will be okay during flowering if the room is tat dark but i got a big ass window in my room where my box is(no cover big enuff to cover it). I like the covers you made too might try this!

just a few old matresses and a wall haha, seems to me that it will work okay, helps block off the light and noise from the fans pretty good too.

I think ill just put a trash bag over the top of the box so i dont have to di too much, then just figure out a way to keep the fan from letting in light.

Does any body not see the words "Heat Lamp" in the OP? Dude, I don't know about you but I would not want to explain to my Landlord, parents, mortgage holder who ever owns your home, not to mention the Fire Dept and the cops how the house burned down. I have seen many successful cardboard box grows on RIU that are very nice and successful. ALL done with cfls. When I started planning I was gonna go the cardboard box way as well but at the time I lived in a 100 year old 'tinder box' of a house. Bad idea. The cardboard box can work but a heat lamp? Especially when it probably won't give plants the spectrum they need. Not a good idea my friend. Good Luck and Happy HIGHlidays!

so for should i take the heat lamp out and just put two grow lights in it, the 24 in tube ones, i saw them at walmart today for like 10 dollars each. only thing is im worried they wont give me the heat i need to hold a good temp. I have always heard and read that plants grow best between 75 and 86 degrees. right now with the heat lamp it stays around 84.
