Will it melt?

Could you use a large plastic tote with a a 150-250w HPS or would it cause the thing to melt, I plan to have a carbon filter intake and exhaust, the reason I want a tote is to be a 3 stage smell reduction system, first the box itself then my closet then my room using ona gel (if I need to vent I have a chimney but id rather not require a venting system, as I only want a small setup for 1-3 plants) so what light is best for what im trying to do?.

I apreaciate the help :peace:

People don't like answering the same questions over and over.

As long as the lights/ballast/hood aren't touching the plastic box, I see no reason why it would melt. If the temps inside the box are hot enough to melt plastic, then you're doing something wrong =)

I've never seen a rubbermaid grow with an hps or mh light, most use floros or CFLs because they run much cooler. HID lights typically require some kind of cooling mechanism to keep the heat in check, but I don't think a 150W bulb would be hot enough to worry about.

yeah - i'd think about a 75w or 150w HID bulb would pretty much max out a rubbermaid... it will all be about airflow... the HIDs could melt it possibly if they were touching the plastic, and there was no air flow...

the real question is... will it blend???

Thanks for the reply mate, im considering just getting a 60x60x120 tent now, im at a loss between making my own growroom or just buying one.

One of my biggest problems is space not sure I can even fit a grow room of that size into my compact room.
