Will I get better/faster growth of seedlings under 1000w mh or would 250w be ok

Hi, I'm new to this forum and forums in general, so please forgive me if I make a mistake..ok my question:
I just built a new grow room (3.5x7 ft) I have a 1000w MH set up. I am trying to save a little $$(economy crunch) my seedlings are 22 days old (6) will I get better/ faster growth using my 1000w or could I use my 250w mh for the next 30 days and get the same growth rate. I am growing 50/50 sativa/indica hybrids. Also, for faster growth 24/7, 18/6, or 16/8??? Thanks for the help, it has been many years since I have grown and this is my first time with seeds(always used clones before)

You would have 1044lumen per sq ft with the 250w and 5700 lumen per sq ft with the 1000w. You should have from 2000 to 3000 lumen per sq ft and for veg could get away with closer to the 2000. So with your choices you either dont have enough or you have total overkill. I suppose that I would go with the 1000w lamp and burn it at 18/6 or 16/8 if I was real hard up for cash. The 250 could work for you but you would want to burn that at 24/00 and its not going to do as well as the 1000

Thanks, that is what I thought, but wanted a second opinion. I will just stay with my 1000 ( my room is actually 4.5x12) but I only have a 3.5 x 7 table. I will just use my 250 in my clone room. and stay with what I always did at 18/6.....there are just so many different opinions/ideas out today on the subject. I'll stay with what has worked well in the past. Thanks again
