I currently have BCBD Purple Afghani growing and i've noticed that there are two types of plants one with dark green classic indica leaves and one with light green longer fingered leaves. The strain is supposed to be a cross so i was wonder if this was two pheno types or unstable genetics as i have read bcbd may have unstable genetics.

You are describing different phenotypes.

Yup....even if there's 2 pheono's their potency may vary within the pheno type appearance .....pick the best at the end and hope you kept a clone.

Thats pretty cool if you think about it plenty of time to take clones im only in week threeof the grow i definitly will keep clones and keep the best for my mother. Am i right in assuming the indica pheno will have a shorter flowering time than the sativa dominant pheno?

Should be but you never know....that's a safe bet but here I am looking at some green crack's that have very thin sativa leaves that will be ready in 8 weeks.

It's not just BCBD. Best bet is to get a clone from each and then you are set if either plant turns out to be any good to smoke.

Its a pain in the ass getting a good mother i wonder what the chance are that one of these ten is a good pheno

Funny you should mention that ratio as my experience has repeatedly been exactly that: about 1 in 10. (But only on seeds that have cost a few bucks. The cheaper the seed, the higher the ratio.)
