Widow denied $3,000 "life insurance" because dead man had been using marijuana

This happened in Oregon and this case is just overflowing with stupidity. First, the guy got killed by an idiot "friend" who "accidentally" shot him on a camping trip. That's bad enough, of course, but the guy's widow is being denied a paltry $3,000 "life insurance" payment because he "had marijuana in his system" when he got killed, and apparently that invalidates the "life insurance."

First, it's a joke to call this "life insurance." It's funeral insurance. It's meant to pay funeral costs. I collected a similar amount of "life insurance" when my first wife died in Texas in the '90s. Basically it barely covers the price of a cheap funeral.

But the idea that the insurers are going to deny this pittance of a payment just because the dead guy used cannabis, plus they force the widow to sue them, it just take chicken-shittedness to a whole new level.

Did he die before or after pot became legal in Oregon? Even if it was still illegal at the time it's a lame reason for a denial as he didn't shoot himself because he was high.

If he family is going to sue anyone it should be the idiot that pulled the trigger. I lost a cousin that way over 50 years ago when some stupid kid who they didn't invite to their overnight hike and camping trip followed and waited until it was almost dark before walking into camp. Then while they were sitting around the campfire cleaning their .22s for the next day's hike back the dumbass pointed a gun at Brock and pulled the trigger. That was in Oregon too. He was 14 when he died and I was about 8.

Wonder if my house insurance would pay out if the place burned down and the cops bust me for my grow. I've paid 60% of what my house cost me for insurance over the years. What a scam.

Corporate greed knows no bounds.
