Why won't they grow?! :(

Hello
I have been trying to grow for about 2+ weeks now and nothing is happening...AT ALL!!

I live in Sydney, and I have heard different things from different people about when to grow...so can anyone please give me the correct time of the year to grow? thanks

moving along...

I obtained quite a few seeds, from different people, so they are in 2 different bags - so can someone please also take a look at the pictures I will attach at the bottom to tell me if these seeds are any good?

I have tried to grow 12 plants
Not 1 of them has done anything - not even germinated, But I planted anyway just to see if anything happened
For some of them, I tried the paper towel technique (2 days)
and for others I tried putting them in water for 3 days
And others, I just planted straight away

I put them in about 1/2 inch - 1 inch into the seed raising mix
It said on the front of the bag it came in
Promotes quick and healthy growth of all seeds

The weather has been a bit all over the place lately...so I might try again once it is more predictable

But the fact that they didn't even germinate is a bit alarming

HELP PLEASE

sounds like shit seeds, they dont look like good seeds either, if they dont germ in a cup of water then its the seed, i use the cup of water method and most germ in the first 24 hours and the rest about 48 if they dont spout by then i toss

Some of those seeds look like they are cracked or dented. They really don't look like good seeds from what I can see.

Are you growing indoors? I am guessing you are since you asked when is a good time to grow. For me I find it better to grow indoors in the Fall and winter. Thats just my opinion.

Try this. Fill a cup with water, Put your seeds in the water then store in a dark place. Sometimes it can take awhile before they germinate. I have had seeds take up to a week to germinate. They should float on top at first, then once they crack they should sink to the bottom. Let them sprout a little tale before planting in the soil.

Hope this helps

not cold water either, room temp water if your house isnt freezing.
and dam a week to germ.
Yeah, I was just about to give up on the seeds thinking they were non viable then they cracked. A week was a long time. Usually good seeds crack within a day or two

That first bag of seeds is full of immature non-viable seeds.
The seeds in the second bag "look" better but who knows how old they are or how they were produced ... if, for instance, whoever dried the cannabis used a microwave to speed the drying, then the seeds get killed.
You really need to get hold of some fresh and viable seeds as the Aussie outdoor growing season is about to start.

Yeah - those seeds look pretty old and crappy, but great that they finally sprouted. I just wouldn't grow stuff like that. Imagine all the hours and joy you'll be having with them - spending a couple of $ on some great genes/seeds is really well worth it. Most likely it would be more potent as well.
But again.... as long as some sprouted you at least will get plants. If you are lucky they'll be awsome. If you are unlucky it's crappy genes that can hermie or strains that are just not very potent.

Just my 2cents on those seeds. Happy growing buddy - i hope you get some dank pipe-weed from those seeds !

yea those are some crappy looking seeds mostly all dried up and dead inside.. but just pick the strongest looking ones and try to crack them open in a wet napkin or a cup of water b4 placing them in seed starter

No need to apologize. Honest mistake. You did however give good advice. Get good genetics, and germinate some good seeds. Lol your all medicated huh? Hell ya.....Enjoy!

squash the seed inbetween ur fingers if it cracks its bad if it dont most the time its good dont be gentle thats how i know when bag seeds are good always worked for me

Thanks for the replies guys

I had a feeling that they weren't good seeds...but just thought I would come and ask the pro's
:P

Can anyone recommend a good seed-bank website that has had success shipping to Australia?
Because if I get anymore off friends, chances are they will just be crappy seeds again
:(

But it's weird because a friend of a friend used the seeds from the 2nd bag and apparently they all worked
But thats just 2nd hand gossip and they were probably just crapping on about it :P

Also, what kind of seeds would you guys recommend for a complete novice?
Just something real easy to grow but with plenty of potency when it comes time to smoke :P

No problem. I would recommend Attitude seedbank. They will ship anywhere. As for what strains are good for a novice to grow. Northern Lights, Afgani, and White Widow are a few I can think of. And all those strains pack a pretty good punch.
