why do schools lie about weed?

ok heres the deal. my girl comes by my house to visit me cuz i got food poisoning, and she is with her younger sister and her cousin. so were talking and the subject of weed comes up. and my girl goes well he smokes, do u look at him diffriently? and her younger sister goes yea, smoking is bad for you. and i ask her why is it bad for u? and she says "oh.......just because. my school just says, don't smoke when u get older, ITS BAD FOR YOU" and then we get into this whole arguement about weed. then she goes "you don't look like somebody who would smoke marijuan...." and im like really pissed off now and i say, "well what does someone who smokes marijuana look like?" and she tells me she don't know. so i tell her that she is only 12 so this arguement is pointless and that ill bring it to her attention in a couple of years. but that shit pisses me the fuck off tho. why do schools lie to kids about weed instead of just giving them the facts?

How could they teach the facts when they don't even know them? clueless...

It is that simple. You prepare kids for real life in school and fill their heads with knowledge that is actually true and will do them some good.
Sex, you tell them
Drugs, you tell them
Gambling etc

They lie to perpetuate the drug war which keeps them in their jobs. With out a Drug War we would be laying off a lot a cops.

well when i was in school they lied and told us that everyone who smokes winds up doing harder drugs, and that ppl have ODed on weed and basicly everyone who smokes it becomes hookers and crack heads. it was fucked up. i think we should just give the facts about drugs and sex and let ppl decide for themselves whats wrong and whats right.

schools just want kids to have the best chance of life possible, and the fact that its illegal could have something good to do with it, and that marijuana use for teenagers is rapidly growing with every passing year, and then u have the government influencing the schools.. hell where do u think they get their curriculum from.. the best you can do is tell your kids what u know, not what you "do" just what you know to help them make the decision for themselves cause u know its gunna happen sooner or later ny way... pot, drinking, shrooms or something even worse without proper knowledgee

I agree they exxagerate, but you are definitely exxagerating too. I dont think schools claim everyone who does it ends up doing harder drugs, they do claim it is a gateway drug. Weed was definitely a gateway drug for me...maybe I'm the only one.

Weed is a gateway drug like breast milk is a gateway to alcoholism. Studies have shown out of people that have tried weed, less than 5% even went on to try things like cocaine. (In places that do real studies, which in this case was Canada eh)

Well they have less hard drug issues than we do there. Probably something to do with the different social policies there vs here and all that has happened here to encourage harder drug use. Here you can't get a job if you smoked in the last 30 days or whatever or even get on a high school chess club team, so it's actually better for kids in that respect to even do meth or crack or oxy's or whatever that gets out of your system faster and won't be caught from one day to the next quite often.

Oxy can be out of your system in just 12 hours... Sure it can make you a slave to the drug but it's easier to get away with and just as easy to get in a school so what happens...

It's currently shown that alcohol is the true gateway drug most abusers start with....... it also causes way more problems for people as they enter their 30's and 40's than pot.

Smoking is bad for you! Yeah duh! Kids are supposed to learn these things. And grown up people arent supposed to fight over them.
