Why do nearly all presidential candidates advocate for Universal Healthcare, but none deliver?

Despite Obama's words in 08, we got Romneycare with control of all 3 branches of government

Clinton actually mocked Sanders' proposal for universal health care during the recent democratic primary debates;

“There is a strain of, on the one hand, the kind of populist, nationalist, xenophobic, discriminatory kind of approach that we hear too much of from the Republican candidates. And on the other side, there’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel.” -Hillary Clinton


So why is it that even Democrats with complete control of the government don't act on things like universal healthcare when they have the chance?

I can guarantee you, now that Republicans have complete control of the government, they will act on it. Just watch. Notice the stark contrast between the way Democrats govern and how Republicans govern.

republicans are gonna gut medicare, turn it into a voucher program, and destroy obamacare and medicaid while they are at it. hopefully they'll privatize social security too.

by the way, colorado rejected universal healthcare by a full fucking 60 points, 80-20. and hillary won our state easily.

i only voted for it knowing it would lose. the rest of my family, all very liberal democrats, all rejected it.

I am not an advocate of universal health care. First, I pay for my own insurance, co-pays, etc. When I wasn't working, I utilized my wife's. Before I had insurance, I often avoided seeing a doctor except when absolutely necessary and paid my bills with meager but acceptable payments when necessary.

Second, I hold the belief that our entire planet could use a break from the exponentially increasing population. Personally, I truly believe that we should just eliminate warning labels except in extreme cases. If one has not enough common sense to not use an electrical appliance while in the bathtub, Darwinism.

In the end, I pay my own way and own up to poor decisions when made.

While toking on the balcony, I saw him smoking a bowl. I knew what i had was fire. Didn't know what he was smoking. Wrapped a nug in plastic and tossed it down without saying a word.

Saw him react to it hitting the ground about 5 feet away from him and walked in before I assume he looked up. Felt great the rest of the day

I gave what I had to give. I have fed the homeless too, when I have extra to give. I don't give cash most of the time, I buy meals.

Wasn't trying to impress anyone.

Your post makes you appear very judgemental.

Yeah I can be judgemental and for the most part it has worked for me. Seems like the homeless guy already had something to smoke. A meal would have been better, but hey If throwing a piece of weed at a homeless guy makes you feel great all day...so be it
