Why can't I use a Regular Inline Duct Fan with a Carbon Filter?

Hi first I would like to thank the site and it's most helpful members.

Is there any reason why they say that regular in line duct fans are not compatible with Carbon Filters, besides they want you to spend big money on an expensive Can Fan? especially seeing how much more CMF you can get for your money.

I figure I can put an in line fan on a variable speed controller, run ducting from the in-line fan to the Carbon filter, into and one out of my grow room. Is there any reason why this would be a mistake? What do you get out of the expensive Can fans, that you can't get from my idea? Where can I get this stuff cheapest? I noticed that HTG supply is cheaper than Home Cheapo in some cases.

PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!:weed:

cheap fans may not push rated cfm, esp when paired with a carbon filter (static pressure).

cheap fans may be too loud for your situation, whatever it may be.

buy once cry once (vortex with the 10 year warranty, but I'll be buying s&p)

The cheap duct fans do not have enough power to push air into or out of the carbon filter. i just redid my whole tent and upgraded from cheap duct fans to inline fans and a filter, the difference is extreme. Look on E-Bay for deals. i bought a like new 8' hydrofarm 750 cfm fan with a speed controller for $80, works great with my 8' filter.
