It really depends on quality of bucket and amount of light pentrating the canopy down to floor level. IF you have a CHEAP thin wall white bucket, then most likely light will get thru and cause problems. One thing that can happen is mold, which is def not good. You'll see it show up as whitish/light green spots along the outer edge of the bucket if you pull the root mass out to transplant. I know from past experience. ;)

So...say you have LOTS of 3-5 gallon white buckets and want to use them? 2 easy approaches to use and both are fairly low buck AND effective.

1. Wrap a heavy duty BLACK plastic trash bag around the outside of the bucket.
2. Wrap Black white Panda poly film around the bucket, same fashion, but wrap WHITE SIDE OUT. Why? White reflects more light BACK into the room to be used. Since the Panda poly is heavy duty AND black on the other side already light WILL NOT pass through. Anyone who says different is either a noob or just plain idiot. I did this for years when I grew dirt and worked like a charm. Also used ono some of my outdoor buckets as well, worked awesome. DARK black buckets got HOT in the sun. WHITE relective bucket stayed cooler. ;)

Yea... lol, you posted that on one of my pix. And thanks for the concern. But I believe that these white buckets are fine. Well, the one's I'm using anyways. They aren't completely white, well, most of the bucket isn't actually white. But I used it for the entire grow and had no problems at all! And I'll continue using them. Works perfectly for me, and I spent zero $ on them! That's the best part!

Here's proof if you need it.....

I use white buckets and have noticed a little algae at the bottom of the bucket at harvest time. Results are still good, but next time I will be lightproofing these things...

Igloo Coolers. Can't beat em,,,,,

No light leaks, no water leaks, easy fill and drain, sturdy, no tipping, maintains water temps for days without adjusting, easy to clean........

i've tried the rubbermaids, heat and light issues. i've tried the fibreglass tubs, heat and light issues big time........

I tinker. Plus I have the cash. I have so much equipment that failed to do any good for the grow it's pathetic.

i'm getting ready to do another room and heading to the hydro store on friday with 5k to buy the goodies,,,

this one is gonna be killa! Another sealed room and this time Co2.
