I guess thats the top and bottom, because the leaf is folded over, and the point of the seed is also the tips of the leaf. Wtf? I'm still questioning the question itself. Gotta be a joke...

The pointy side is actually up. If the seed were to free fall it would land most likely flat side down. The reason I say point up is the tap root makes a u turn as it sprouts. As it comes out of the dirt it pulls the shell off.
Now that being said, I tend to just poke a hole and throw them in. On rare, very rare occasions, when they were wrong it caused them to kind of spin in the hole. Creates a spiral of a root tap.

lay the sucker on its side if you are not sure...once you water it it shifts anyways
