Which is better for anxiety? Sativa or Indica?

Hey guys, I've been smoking pot for over 10 years now and have been a MMJ patient for little over a year and I keep getting mixed messages about which type, sativa or indica, is actually best for curing or helping anxiety.

Through my experience, sativa dominant strains seem to help the best but sometimes certain indica dominant strains do the trick. I guess it all depends on the balance of the two and of course the person and mood they are in. I've read how Strawberry Cough (80/20 sativa dom.) was grown specifically for anti-anxiety and have smoked it with decent results. However, I have talked to many growers and dispensary staff who say, due to indica's calming effect, indica dominant strains are ultimately better for anxiety.

Can someone who knows what they are talking about please school me on this topic? Or is there anyone with chronic anxiety who has found the perfect balance or strain to combat their anxiety? I'd appreciate the input.

Hey stealthgrower - I'm no expert but I do feel your confusion. Anxiety treatment is very individual and context dependent. I've found that some strains help in certain settings but make things worse in other settings.

You may want to check out Leafly.com. They crowdsource their strain info so you can see which strains are proportionately better for anxiety with less of the negative effects that you may be sensitive to.

For my situation, I'm looking for 2 strains to reduce anxiety - one for day and one for night.

they both work well for anxiety for me. most will tell you indica... but i think its more about
what you plan on doing. if you want to sleep than indica, if i have to do work, then a sativa.

for some reason im not to keen on hybrids

i get panic attacks and i think all strains will help relieve.

I seem amazingly calm smoking the white widow, if that doesn't work I usually hit the xans.
