Where to position your thermometer/hygrometer in your grow?

Ok so ive saw on a youtube video that you should have your thermometer/hygrometer at the pot level in the room for accurate readings - i have just moved it lower down and im getting much nicer temperature readings at root level as its sitting just ontop of the soil now.

Can anyone confirm that this is the best place to take your readings?

anyone?.... i had it on the growroom wall about 3/4 of the way up but i heard thats too close to the lights and gives an inaccurate reading.

i keep mine at about the same hight as the plants. that should give you a acurit temp.

You mean at the same height as the buds?

I had a dirty big 300w cfl next to my thermometer and i was wondering if the readings were inaccurate as the cfl was too close - it was just hanging from the growroom ceiling and they get quite warm so thats why i moved it.

you ideally want it by your plants... say under your lights by your plants it's 95 degrees because of the lights but over on your wall it's only 80 degrees.. everything would appear fine because you are going based off of what the temp is on the wall of the room where there is no light intensity while in reality your plants are suffering from heat stress...that's a pretty extreme example but it just shows you how your readings could be skewed

yeah well im not using an air cooled hood either so im guessing that the temps will differ depending on where i place the thermometer in the room... adding the cfls might have helped with the lumen levels but it sure didnt help the temperatures.
