Where to look for recyclable heatsinks

I'm racking my brain trying to think where I'd find old heatsinks on 100w electronics. I'm looking for giant heatsinks to cool a 100w cob passively.

So far I'm thinking old stereo amplifiers and air compressors. Any other ideas?

Good luck finding anything that big, heatsinkusa is very reasonable. Maybe old digatal ballast might work, the housing is basically a heatsink but its lacking a thick mounting pad for passive cobs.

Does it have to be passive? If you can use a fan then you can get away with a smaller heatsink. But to answer your question, find something with a Peltier module in it at a second hand store; micro fridge, 12v car cooler, wine chiller. I've had good luck finding heatsinks in these devices

Junk yards, pick n pull,

Call around or ask buddys that are electricians, they probably have shit from old jobs theyve done, or could point you in the right direction

Usually when you installing new stuff the clients throw away perfectly good stuff .. ;)
