I picked up one of these a while ago:

It's a single hose unit. I am very satisfied with it. I researched for a while because I didn't want to get stuck with an expensive, POS fan. From what I've seen, comments/reviews are all over the place for these portables. The worst reviews seemed to involve inadequate cooling, and/or excessive water build-up when running the AC. This appears to affect most manufacturers. Much of it may be user error. You have to have a window to vent to and the hose should be short as possible, for best results. Having no prior experience with them, I can't say this is the best portable AC unit but it works well for me.
I have run it nearly constantly since it arrived and it does a great job of keeping temperatures where they need to be. I have not had to empty the emergency reservoir either and that makes me
. I briefly tested the heat pump functionality and it puts out a lot of warm air. You can also search for portable air conditoner on the same site to see lots of other options. HTH
