when to switch to HPS and flower neuts

I am wondering when everyone is switching over to a hps bulb and flowering neuts?

I find people saying to start out with hps and flower neuts

so guys say 2-3weeks

I have been running MH and veg neuts until vertical growth stops. 6-7weeks my yields have always been good. my time lines are a fair bit longer then advertised.

what everyone else doing

LEDs 24/0 feeding using FF nutes and following veg feed schedule till stretch stops then using just the powder trio

I feed good with all three parts of my base nutes and a half dose of Big Bud a week before flipping to prime the pump for flowering. If using 400s I'll run one MH and one HPS but if going with the 1000W I'll use the Hortilux Super HPS as it has a decent amount of blue to go with the red.

Are those hortilux bulbs worth the price. Been thinking of new bulbs next grow.

I think they are worth it. I'm still using a 15 yo 400w conversion bulb of theirs so I think they are well built. Vegs plants just fine but looking pretty rough. :)

I did just buy a couple of 1000w Super HPS bulbs made by Light EnerG that look to have almost the same spectrum as the Hortilux but were about half the price. Supposed to work with mag or digi ballasts. Wishing now I'd got one Hortilux and one of those for a backup.

The EYE Blue is supposed to be good for veg and flower but couldn't find those at the grow store I did my shopping at last time I had cash to spare.

The new CMH lights are probably the best spectrum going for HID but I don't believe the hype about a 315w taking the place of a 600 Super HPS. Better than a 400 maybe but not quite a 600 and a lot more money plus I don't like the built-in ballast or light hoods that come with them. I use a light rail and wouldn't want all that weight hanging off it.

Switch to HPS week 1 flowering for the biggest yield, if you switch later it will help to keep down stretch, also start bloom nutes week 2 of flower.

also start bloom nutes week 2 of flower

I don't understand the logic of waiting until the second or third week to introduce flowering nutes. The plants are setting up their bud sites during the first couple weeks and all the bloom nutes and instructions from the makers of them say to start right at the flip.

I noticed quicker bud development when I once fed bloom and Big Bud then had to put off flowering for almost 2 weeks as my only HID bulb at the time blew when I fired it up. I was using 4'-T12s for veg and didn't want to use them at the beginning of flower. Now I feed bloom mix a week before flipping as a usual thing.

In a well balanced soil grow it likely doesn't make much difference as all the bloom ingredients are already in the soil for the plant to draw on as needed but with hydro they don't get any until the grower adds it.

Something more to look into I guess. :)

First week of flower cannabis still wants more nitrogen than when in full bloom, i have tested this side by side and grow nutes for the first week works best for keeping healthy plants until end of flowering.

I feed all 3 nute bottles at a 1-1-1 ratio so getting lots of N when I prepare to flip. Once stretch is over I change to a Lucas formula type feed to lower the N but the Micro has lots of N yet.

Should try my way on one identical plant if you're growing in pots and see what you think. Might be pleasantly surprised but if you're doing organic soil growing it won't likely show much difference.

I've tried so many experiments over the years to either confirm or debunk things I've been told or read about. It's in my nature to be curious and believe what I see with my own eyes and even at 63 still delight in new things tho rarely distracted by bling. ;)
