when to pollinate?

So I have a few Durga Mata II & Amnesia feminized plants about 3-4 wks into bud. I have a pure afghani male In the garden also. The male is showing balls, but has not released its pollen. I wonder how long it will be before the male is able to knock up the females? How many wks in do the buds have to be for optimal fertilization? I've heard 5-6 wks, and the seed takes around 3 to mature. Is this correct? What is the best way to make myself some seeds? Thanks in advance for the help !

Seeds usually take a little longer than 3 weeks to mature, more like 4+.

That flower in your last shot is ready to be pollenated but you still have some time. The sooner you pollenate, the smaller the bud will be. At the same time you will need enough time for them to finish. Apart from that, it doesn't matter a whole lot. That little flower alone is enough for dozens of seeds.

Good luck.

yeah, beans will take about 4 week'ish to mature..
once you see solid male preflowers, they should blow their wads in about 12 -14 days or so.. you'll notice them start to form these string looking things, one banana on the end of each string.. once you see this, you only have a few days before they blow..
sounds like your timing should be pretty close, depending on the flowering time of the mother of course.

If you want to make your own seeds, aka polinate the plant. Collect the pods from the male just before they start to open. Use a small art type paint brush to collect the pollen from the pod and pollinate the buds where you want seeds. (it isnt' rocket science, just rub or sprinkle) You can also intentionally herm a female (with colloidal silver), collect it's male pollen, then use the paint brush technique on a healthy female to produce feminized seeds.

Thanks guys ! ~ Just as I thought, the timing IS close so hopefully I'll be the proud daddy of a hundred beans or more. The Afghani dad actually had me fooled early on, because it smelled DANK even as a large seedling. Hoping the Afghani potency, yield, resin production and short stature/ fast maturation time to the hybrids. This Affie dad should produce some kick-ass offspring :blsmoke:

i dry and cure the buds with the beans still inside. then de-seed at my convenience.

if you de-seed the fresh cut buds, then i would dry the beans for at least few days before storage.

Not salt. If you want to do something like that, put rice in the oven on low, dehydrate the rice, seal the rice hot in a jar, let cool, add beans, seal, will be dry within hours and can stay in that jar if you wish.

Use cheap white rice, it won't have oils that can go rancid.
