When to harvest...?

I do not have a Magnifier and cannot see trichromes. How can I determine readiness ( i posted my current pix today on my other thread https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/383817-my-first-grow-w-pix.html ) i know its not close right now, but was wondering how else to know

scopes are cheap but if you want to go freelance then go by when the hairs have all turned rusty red and cut out a nuget and speed dry it and try it. Mature weed will keep you high for hours.

When they are getting ripe the calyxes will swell up, and the white hairs will retreat back inside, I never use a scope, they tell me when they are good to go.
