Just curious when everyone else chooses to flush their autos. I am only in week 8 from seed, thinking about flushing about two weeks from now. Not the best quality pictures, but I tried
Awesome, thank you for the info. The strain is Seedsman Strawberry Cheesecake Auto, it was a freebie and it came in a little tiny ziploc and I don’t know much about it. I didn’t even realize it was an auto until it started flowering..lol. Also, this is my first grow so I am completely winging it, just trying my best to keep the plants healthy and use as many organic nutrients as I can. I feel like it’s on the small side for 8 weeks but maybe it’s just the strain who knows. These are the nutrients I’ve been using (for all my plants too)From what I have seen everyone is different, some 2 weeks, some 1 week, some a few days and some not at all. My friend normally flushes the last week once the buds are where he wants them to be. No set time from seed as all autos mature at different rates and bear in mind its often longer than it advertises. Something I too want to research more although I do not grow auto's. Been reading how some people say it makes no difference to the quality and taste of the bud. The reasoning they use makes sense to me if using organic grow method, but if someone is pumping the plant with chemicals then I suggest it could have some impact on the bud taste and smoke, more research needed by moi. Plants look healthy but they look like they have a long way to go. What strain is it and what did it say on the back of the box?
Check their website for info on it. I would suggest if is more likely your growing conditions than the nutes that is holding up your plant if you think it should be further along. Light, temp, humidity.Awesome, thank you for the info. The strain is Seedsman Strawberry Cheesecake Auto, it was a freebie and it came in a little tiny ziploc and I don’t know much about it. Yep, this is the conclusion I am coming too after researching it. I have been looking into this drowning method to start the curing process before harvest which interests me. But flushing for a week or 2 when buds are filling out is madness in my book and does not do much apart from clean the media and force the plant to drag nutrients from the leaves as it stresses out. I currently plan (plan changes constantly as I research more) just to fade of the nutes a little if media has enough stored, fade out the lights, drop temp a little and drop the 12hr to 11 over the last week or so to encourage it to finish properly by mimicking to some degree the real world, but ultimately let the plant tell me what it wants. Then 72 hrs dark, cut and hang, dry for as long as it takes in optimum conditions in a tent and then cure to optimum RH in jars. From what I have read the taste and smoke-ability is almost always down to the dry and cure process as long as the plant was grown relatively well in the first place. I mean a do a mini flush on most waterings anyway, using coco, worm castings and charge as my media. Idea is to keep media optimum at all times so flushing is not necessary for whatever reason. Does that make sense to you? There is no need to stop feeding at the end, this has been proven not to change the final results.Flushing is a myth and a waste of time.
Yes I understand, I have just heard that the bud retains some of those nutrients resulting in a nasty taste when smoked. Not sure if that is a myth or not but I’d rather err on the cautious side as long as flushing won’t harm my plantCheck their website for info on it. Wow okay lots of info and lots of comments there. So I’m thinking of flushing them based on the article, not to get rid of the possible bad taste etc, but more so in case I overfed my plants. Being that this is my first grow I probably have to be honest. Most of my nutrients are organic though, or at least I try to keep them organic. I read that over fed plants are shitty, I don’t even know if flushing them would help with that? I’m a little lost in limbo between the two options here, what is your suggestion?Have a read of this and make an informed choice which way you want to go.
