soooo, ive let them soak in water/humic acid for 24hours. then planted into vermicasting soil blocks..one sprouted after cracking open in the cup with no issues. i tapped each with a pencil and noticed they sank so this is when i planted into soil blocks. its been 7 days and no sprouting. i pulled one up from the soil block and tossed it back into a cup of water to see if it goes any faster than the rest still in blocks. theyre only a half centimeter or so into the block btw.

question..

well aside from the title question, if im between 70-80F i should be golden to germinate right? has anyone else gotten crap seeds from attitude?

history,
ive been growing cannabis for a few years now and havent had so many "fresh" seeds to not germinate.

comments and off the wall criticism is welcome

I've had issues with germination for years until I tried just plain dirt, water, and heat. I planted 3 NL5xShiva seeds (Nirvana at that lol) that were at least 9-10 years old with a couple of other strains that were over 6 years old and all of them germinated within 4-5 days. Just used a heating mat with slight 1/4" clearance as it was in Aug., watered them good at planting, and came back 3 days later and most had germed but the a couple of slow pokes that came up the next day. I just used a LED light for the next 2 weeks and moved to 400W hps for veg. I use to stress over them now I just ignore them until they come up. I use spring (bottled) water since there are dissolved minerals in there and just a commercial potting soil.

could be the blocks arent insulating enough and the chills are getting em. i may just bury these blocks in solo cups of dirt.

most of my veges grew in the same block recipe. but theyre winter crops like swiss chard and kale

These are all I use anymore with the rapid rooter cubes and a heating mat. I get nice big plants in three days or less everytime

i appreciate the advice thus far yall!

so far seems like the thing to do is use a heat mat of sorts. an hour later the hot water bath was cool to the touch. i added an incandescent light under the tray and raised the tray closer to the light.

the soil block material is fine being that it is jsut vermicastings and minor amount of sand from impurity. This recipe doesnt burn seedlings even more fragile than cannabis and i have used in a commercial farming application at the rates of over 100 seedlings planted a day. difference was temperature though. iv since moved to a colder climate. prev was on the equator line lol

So, I'm a noob. I've only bought seedsman seeds. I've started 5, then 9 more, and passed 6 onto my buddies. 20 seeds. 20 sprouts. 100% germ rate!
