Whats the best deer repellent

This is going to be my first outdoor grow and I noticed deer tracks where I anticipate planting. I was wondering whats the best repellent I can get to keep these away? Does predator piss work well and if so how frequently should I reapply it? Or should I use a portable electric fence?

I make a mixture of tobacco juice (buy a bag of Beech Nut Chew and soak it in water) and cayenne pepper and put it into a spray bottle.

I spray all around the plant but not actually on them and it seems to keep them away.

30.06 and a good scope ..... Just sit and wait ..

I have had no problems with deer. They dnt seem to like them.

I have not had so much of a problem with Deer eating my bud.

I have had problems with them trampling all over it. That is why I said you should spray it all around the area, like a 10 foot radius. It sucks to come back and find your babies trampled to death, sets you way back!

Thanks for the reply's. I was under the impression that they were vicious weed murderers and were only on the prowl to find grower gardens. The 30.06 is a good idea and I will be taking that route next winter for deer season.

A small infra red trigger and a can of compressed air.
Deer comes near and pssssstttttttt,deer legs it and never comes back
Works on all pot munchers,rabbits,deer,goats etc..,all depends on your area to what you need to worry about.
Place infra red detector and compressed air can right near your plants.

I was thinking of the whole rat trap,12 gauge slug and trip wire idea

Way to noisy.
Attracts unwanted attention.
If they hear any noise they will bolt,doesn't need to be so loud as a shotgun cart.
A small detector will cost you a pittance and a can of compressed air is a couple of bucks.
The most expensive part is the trigger for the spray.
All components can be recovered and used again and again and run off a small motor bike battery

Moth balls do well too ,, But after a reall good rain they would have to be redone .. LOTS of mothballs

Actually mothballs do work. What you need is film cannisters, put mothballs inside them and punch holes in the cap then tie them so they hang upside down from your plant branches. Keeps them dry and the deer away.

I would also throw them around the grow area (not near your plants ) on the ground .They are cheap so after a rain you may have to throw some more around

go to a hair salon and ask if u can sweep up some hair, put the hair around ur grow area, and how ever far out u want. the deer will smell the hair and bug out. i have the same problem at my lakehouse, and thsi works good for me. and its free

The best deer repellent I've found is a 30.6 with a 180 grain bullet

animals aint scared of other animals, hair works best, or ya pee works but not as good. shit all smells like shit so that dont work

Really? Why do animals of every sort, well all others than some types of snakes, in my area run for the hills when my dogs start barking and chasing them?

I have lived here for over 22 years and have had many dogs and I have only one time known of a deer not taking off when one or more of my dogs went after it and in that case both were pups, about 6 months old and the deer was a rather large male who just snorted and stood his ground and my lil’ fellas did not have the balls to charge him. Now when they smell or see a deer they are on it faster than a duck on a June bug and the deer runs and runs as fast as it can.

If you are much of a hunter you will know that hunters either do not wash their hunting clothes unless they absolutely have to or when they do wash them they will use a detergent that is unscented. They will bathe with unscented soap and if they shower they will either not wash their hair or will use the unscented bar soap instead of shampoo. Some will go so far as to not brush their teeth in the morning if they are going hunting because of the scent of the toothpaste. Deer will smell scents from things like that and they will avoid them.

A human’s scent alone will keep deer away. I have known of people wearing a tee shirt for several days and getting it all sweaty and stinky and then cutting or ripping it in strips and then hanging them from branches in a circle around areas they grow so any deer that happen into the area will smell the human scent and avoid the area.

I am not saying that any single option will work 100% of the time but if you use several of them together you have a rather good chance of keeping deer away from your plants.
