what would you do

Hey all

I have a small 2x2 - 2x4 space left over that i'd like to use for a grow/mother/cloning. What would you do in it and how would you design your cab? I was thinking about possibly maybe using that for another cloning and mother area?

I have about 400-500 bucks left over to spend on this setup.

I was thinking running a 2x4 tent with a 400watt HPS/MH for a mother and some clones in coco and rockwhool

$00 seems like a lot for that skinny space. I would grab 2 200 wats before I did the 400.

Mother and clones = 2 different heights. T5HO can be kept within an inch of your mother with a fan on it. Use a second one if the mother is taller than 18" then raise it as the clones grow.

With a 2' x 4' foot print you can only go up to a 250w if the cabinet is going to be closed unless you are using a 6"cool tube and a little supplemental ventilation besides the cool tube rig. I have 2- 2'x4' closets going and with a 4" ho can fan sucking from a 250w hood (no cooltube) and 1- 6" Vortex fan sucking from both closets ( for supplemental ventilation ) I still add 6 degrees (above ambient) with a 125w cfl.

Hm. So i guess ill be finding a 250w setup. Is MH a ton better than t5's?

I would say no, not a ton better, maybe zero or worse. MH efficiency increases at higher wattages same with HPS. Ceramic Metal Halide might be the best, but T5HO are 92 lumens per watt and can be kept an inch from the tops with a fan on em. Perpetual grow, the more stages the closer to harvest each will be. So yes, 2 tents or some way to control light and heat in each chamber. If your lights are in the same place with different size plants the smaller ones get less light. See the inverse-squared law for the formula, but a foot shorter is half the intensity. 2 bulb 4foot 54watt times 2 fixtures are $90 here with bulbs that last twice as long as HID. Then flower after the stretch with the biggest HPS that you can keep cool.
