Hello all,

So I need some help with buying the right type of fans. Exhaust and other.

This is the space that I'm working with.

6 1/2' x 3' x 5' (x) 2

I'm using a 600w hps system with a light mover in the flowering area and I'm using two four foot fluorescent tubes. and 12 cfls for the vegging area.

So what type of movement should I get (cfm) brands will help aswell

i dont know much about brands..but I know that the squirrel fans are good...you wouldn't need a very big one for that size room...or a simple box fan always works good as well for an intake or exhaust...computer fans also...sorry I couldnt be more help but here are some pictures of the intake system i put together today for 10 bucks at walmart...

How can I use this for both areas, and it this for the exhaust or the intake? Do I need two of these One in and one out?

Thx

You could use that for exhaust and just have passive intakes. Passive intakes are just holes that air can be drawn in from. Home Depot has some low cost inductor fans for like $25 that you could use for intakes. As long as you exhaust more air then you bring in, you'll be at a much lower risk for mold and contamination.

Just a qick thought on the subject, the squirrel fans are all good but are made more for intermitent use. If ur looking for a constint exhaust source, one that can have a carbon filter put on also, i wouldnt suggest the squirrel fan

You should exhaust your entire room at least once a minute but three times would be better. So for your size room ( 6.5 x 3 x 5 ) = 95.5 (x 3) = 292.5

And you are saying there are two rooms of that size, so you'd need two 300 CFM or one 600 CFM fan to exhaust your area three times every minute. You'll want to put some passive intake holes so you don't create a vacuum. Ideally you'd have multiple smaller intake holes that equal larger than your exhaust hole. Another words if you are using an 8" exhaust fan, you'd want to have 3 4" holes or 4 3" holes - something like that.

as far as brand - i've only used one kind so my experience won't help you there but i would recommend the vortex-style.

I would recommend using a separate exhaust fan (a 170 CFM should do the trick) for venting your lights.
