when going to a hydroponics store and start asking questions to someone that works there...

what do you tell them your growing? because im sure that is a question they need to ask when assisting you with your purchases.

dont say anything and they will know what u r in there for.
I agree. Do your research before you go in, that way you know exactly what you want and you will not need to discuss what you are doing. Except for maybe asking where the product is. Go in knowing what you are doing.

I don't know anyone under 40 that grows tomatoes:mrgreen:
Dont ask them anything, make your list before you go and grab everything you need yourself and put it on the counter pay with cash and leave just as if you had bought any other shopping.
If you don't know what you need then ask the people here at RIU and you'll get enough suggestions for your setup and space.
Its none of the shop keepers business who you are or what your doing, and 9 out of 10 hydro shops rely on weed growers business anyway so i wouldn't worry about it:blsmoke:

hey i am under 40 and i grow tomatoes (outside) but really id say 1 out of 10 people that walk into a garden supply place are there for growing indoor tomatoes or what not and the one's that do are most likely horticulture people, and they wouldnt need to ask questions.

Just like Natmoon said, its better to do your resurch first, this allows you to know what you want and helps you save $$ because you have asked questions on this type of form and recieved the info and types of products that you need and not the most coslty stuf. plus if you go in and say I want to grow tom. how do you want to grow your tom. soil, hydro, aero. ect.
I went in a shop when I first started and the guy tried to sell me the most costly products. He was cool but after figuring that I might need all that stuf I went back to the drawing board, and found out for what I want to do I didn't need half the stuf he was tring to sell me.

your best bet is to find out what you want to do ie the space you have to work with and the amount of plants you want around.
