If you want fast flowering time then i suggest an autoflowering strain but dont expect a huge yeild, I'd suggest picking a strain that is much more tolerant to mistakes such as Northern Lights. Although Fem seeds cost more they are guaranteed to be flower, only 5% of fem seeds are male not counting hermaphrodites

I'd suggest either auto flowers or strong indicas they grow fast stay short and indicas give a decent yield at the cost of an extra couple weeks to a month compared to autoflowers and I've always used feminized, other than when I started with bagseed. Saves wasted work

You don't want to smoke a ruderalis. You only buy them if your an experienced breeder looking to develop your own auto flowering strains. Auto flowering strains finish incredibly fast, making them ideal for people willing to take a risk growing Sea of Green style indoors. They are short, about 2ft on average, but because of the ruderalis, they aren't as enjoyable or as potent as a good India Sativa hybrid. However, they're getting pretty close.

If your able to grow legally, then autoflowers aren't worth your time. Your smallest Indica if grown right should easily average five feet and your Sativas can get 15'-20' without using fertilizers or nutrients. Hybrids will be the hardiest and often the best producing and tasting.

I like buying F1 Femminized for their vigor and reliability. The risk of getting a hermi has been way over exaggerated. However, I still wouldn't want to breed them. For breeding, stick with 'regular' strains that breed true like landraces, hairlooms, or any strain listed as F5 or higher. I typically avoid F2 and F3 generations because these will have the widest pheno variation. I haven't seen a F4 marketed before, but they should be somewhat stable. F5 is a defacto landrace, even if it isn't labled as one. It just doesn't have the prestige of being called African Landrace or Thai Landrace or whatever the country of origin is. The only risk with F5 is in regards to how it was raised. If it's grown in the UK under LEDs, I wouldn't expect it to survive outdoors in say Arizona or Texas.

In regular occurring seeds pure indica finish the fastest in normally 3 weeks veg + 8 weeks flowers total 11 weeks (77 days), their feminized version take exactly the same. Some but not all Auto-flowering strain are harvested in 49 days total saving 28 days each plants producing around 30% less than "normal" plant, you can compensate this by putting more plants in smaller pots under your light and obtain the same production. Hermaphrodite in all-female use to be a big problem due to the use of giberelic acid to induce male flowering on female plants, now the seeds bank have converted to using colloidal silver it produce 99% female ratio some have begin to use silver thiosulfate witch is even better with 99.99% female ratio.
