What nutrients and when?

Please spare a few mins for a newb who needs some positive advice!

Its my 1st grow - I have currently 1 Super Lemon Haze & 1 Blueberry Skunk. I have learnt from this quite a bit and know some areas I need to improve on:

PH
Nutrients
Timing

Background info:
Until flowering I didnt use a PH Meter. I wasnt using nutrients each time I watered and for the first month or so (in veg period) wasnt watering each day. I left them under CLF (250w) for too long, which has resulted in tall plants - not very bushy either) and have since had no option but to remove the head of the SLH. Both plants are at least 5ft each. So far they are starting to brown on the pistles (i think thats what they are called) but still have 40-50% white. Im using a 250watt hps (security freak reasons - indoor grow) so im happy keeping this how it is.

What im looking for is some advice on specifically nutrients.

I started by using Bio Grow NPK 8-2-6 in the veg stage
Through week 2 to 4 of flowering stage I used Big Bud NPK 0-2-4
After this I reverted back to Bio Grow

Are these nutrients ideal for the period I used them? Are there others I could use for different periods in the growing cycle which would better the plants? I have no issues spending a few quid on this type of thing, I plan to get my own PH test kit in time for my next grow.

At the moment the plants have some dying leaves (yellowing, totally dead, and colour loss and curling at the tips) more prominent on the SLH but noticeable on both. I still have some nice bud developing but not the amounts I would like or which would validate set up costs & risk. Im not put off by this though as I realise I will make mistakes and just need to learn from them, but cant help but notice loads of newbs getting better results than me which is kinda disapointin considering the money effort and time I have invested.

Would really appreciate some constructive/positive advice/feedback on the matter.

FYI humidity and heat is no problem, I am using an extractor and a fan in the room.

Also im planning on doing some auto flowering plants, does this go straight under the hps or do I need to use the CFL first?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

the one thing you forgot to mention was how long have they been flowering for? and pics really do help because my mental image of your plant may not be accurate. some yellowing in flowering is expected, but not dying and curling and the yellowing shouldn't get excessive untill the end. your bloom fert has zero nitrogen in it which is not good because mj does need n even in flower despite what some people will try to tell you. you might have the best results using both, but i would reccomend adding something during flowering that has some n in it or replacing the bloom fert altogether with something with some N in it. i'm not much use in reccomending ferts because i've only used miracle grow (eh) and foxfarm. the foxfarm i've been using exclusively for a couple years and i like it but i am going to be trying jack's classic bloom fert on my current crop while still using the fox farm veg nute during veg. you'll notice some people have a laundry list of stuff they use and some people keep it basic. every grower is different. some notice certain things about their plants and some notice other things and this affects what they consider good nutes. if you can put up a pic you will get better responses. could be a number of things keeping your plant from being all she can be. monitoring ph is absolutely essential in all stages of the plant's life.
