what makes quality weed when you're growing?

Doing my first grow and I was wondering what types of things you can do when you're growing that will make the weed better. Also tips for curing that will lead to quality bud.
I'm growing outside btw

I might be too late answering this, but the single most important part of growing good bud is GENETICS. I can not emphasize this enough, start with proven genectics.

Side/Under lighting
Controlled Temps/Humidity
No Light Leaks
Great nutes
Genetics
Pheono types
Light, light, and more light.

For curing/drying

Slow and steady wins the race.

How to grow really good weed
1. Aquire good genetics
2. See #1

Tips for Curing:
1. Hang dry for 4 days
2. Put in mason jar
3. Open jars every 12 hrs for approx. 20 mins the 1st week, then once daily the 2nd; then once a week thereafter
4. Watch for mold...wait 30 days & smoke

Bagseed = not good genetics

Bag seed can be good genetics depending on what it came from in the first place. Could find the next designer strain... lol

Not true - there are several reasons a couple of seeds might show up in a bag of good weed.
I had a White widow that decided to herm a bit late in flower & she gifted me with a small amount of freebie fem'd seeds that are fantastic.
In this case it is ~ Bag-seed = Great genetics !

The potency of any plant is hardwired into it's DNA, so all the super-hydro-uber-tech on earth won't change the buds you end up with.

..of course, how *much* bud you end-up with can be increased with techniques, but genetics alone will determine how wasted you get smoking it.

PLANT HEALTH and size = growing technique,
HOW POTENT the buds are = genetics of the mother, already in the seed.

Yea I beg to differ I had some Afghan Bullrider Kush Seeds from my friend who found 2 in his crop and mailed them my way

considered bagseed because he bought a few oz's off some guy and bagged them up to resell when he started smoking his own supply he found them

P.s he said good weed not sure that only means potency but if thats the case genetics if not there are a lot of things that can make good weed

I've grown-out great buds from bag-seed, but it's still all genetics. the fact the plant grew colas as thick as my wrist just meant more bud, not more potency. And of course you can breed for more potency but then you're getting into dozens of plants, and multiple grow areas. Even with a huge setup you won't know until you smoke the buds which plants are keepers and which aren't.

But I doubt a first time grower is equipped for the ocean-of-plants breeding routine.

ok you are right; allow me to rephrase... Bagseed= unknown genetics

That goes for any strain of seed. You can get a diamond out of good genetics from bagseed. or you can spend 1000 on some top of the line genetics and still not end up with a good pheno. Either way you generally end up with something good enough. If you don't want to take a chance, go buy a clone from someone you can trust. You can't turn shit into gold so mexi brick weed might not do you so great but I have seen some decent Mexi grows when taken care of right.

And potency does have to do with the grower all so. If you fuck off a bad grow Genetics is not going to save your potency.

Not disagreeing with genetics as the plants/seeds need to come from a decent line. BUT maximizing the potential of whatever you've grown comes down picking it at the right time for the type of stone you like (earlier/cloudy trichs for max THC/head-stone vs later/amber trichs for more of a body stone) in combination with proper, slow drying and curing. It's a world of difference in the same strain. No question about it, I've grown outdoor for years that beats indoor hands down including the exact same genetics (clones from the same mother) and it turned out much better than anything a buddy grew/grows for profit/$ because he picks by the size of the buds/plants vs trichs, nor spends the time to dry and cure properly. It's like smoking two completely different strains. I've proven it to him over and over again, and he still continues with his ridiculous methods &^%!

Wrong. Clear means no thc. Good luck with that.
