What is the point of stealth growing cabinets?

Are stealth growing cabinets to hide your grow from people
that live with you or visit your house? Or is it to conceal from police?

Why did you build your stealth growing cabinet?

I know i'm not supposed to answer a question with a question but, why don't you and me go set up in front of a police headquarter in Missisippi and find out.

Mine is almost 100% stealth, no light leaks, looks like a normal cabinet but you can hear some of the air sound. It is not noticeable when the central air or heat is on in the apartment though.

The reason I need to do stealth and I cant just set up a tent in my room is -
1. A tent, in my opinion looks like shit shoved in the corner of your room
2. I have a lot of people over and only my girl (who lives with me) knows about it
3. I live in an apartment and have random fire detector inspections / maintenance people coming in for various reasons and I cant have a grow going on.
4. I cant cut holes in my closet or ceiling for ventilation because I am in an apartment
5. Stealth grows tend to be super quiet so you cant hear the fans which is good if you are right next to another dwelling
6. ITS FUN!

On the topic of them being able to tell from my power usage, doubt it. I run a 150w lamp and an inline fan. Together, they draw less amps than my mini fridge, nobody would ever know I have anything going on unless they looked and noticed a trend of 12 on 12 off light usage. That can easily be an AC or Heater though..

An electric heater that plugs in the wall pulls more power than a 1kw grow. With the moms another 300watts minimum, cloning bin 80w. An electric plug in heaters comsumes 1500w. Electric wall heaters that are hard wired can consum way more and your dryer is some 5000w...etc. Power usage is definately not an issue in a stealth grow.

Yea in my case its for inlaws, landlords, neighbors, and girls selling cookies...
I'm probly not stealth in the way your thinking however.. I have an entire bedroom dedicated to growing including the closet for veg..dif closet in another room for dry cure..I have 4 cabs rotating under 2 lights every 12 hours...and the bedroom is cut in half as a dark room
Sooo while I don't have a true stealth cab I see it all for the same reason just different sizes....I don't think its for people living with you because I don't know that would be possible with leaves perlite etc leaving traces and such..light too and heat I'm sure you can come up with more..

So I see it as letting people come into your house..I can have company over and nobody knows a thing...

I grow in a cabinet so that visitors will not see (land lord, friends, police, ect.)

If you think you can grow while keeping it a secret from people who live there....good luck.

I doubt any stealth cabinets would not be discovered in five minutes of police entering a house. But on the flip side, I doubt that police are gonna bother getting a search warrant for a mircogrow. They will just try to socially engineer their way into a house.

The point of my stealth grow cabinet is to conceal my grow from apartment maintenance workers and any possible visiting family members.

Given my technological background, my stealth cab is masquerading as a "poor man's server box." It sits right next to my PC desk, which really helps to pass off the feeling.
-It's passed the stealth test quite a few times regarding various family members and several maintenance workers. Very "off the radar."

I've thought of alternatives... but having it in a closet is inconvenient and suspicious. I'm not allowed to modify anything in this apartment, so that's out the window. This was my next best option. It also doesn't generate any heat and uses less electricity than my computer does.

-I find it interesting that you mention police. Stealth grows limit most factors of drawing suspicion from police (less heat, less electricity, concealed). Assuming I ever received a knock on the door from digit 5-0, I'd just let them knock. Not like I'm required to answer it and if they have a search warrant (and those are relatively hard to get unless the grower is stupid) they're kicking down the door anyway. :lol:

You'd be surprised.

And you aren't required to open the door for a police officer.

Agree with you 100%.

I have had EMT's (back in the day at a party) and police come in to the SAME ROOM my box was in and not ask a single question or act suspicious like I had something in there. They were literally standing 1 foot from the thing.

for me its exactly what it means, a stealth grow, u could stand next to my cab and not know, all for the reasons already mentioned. it does give me a buzz though when friends, family or even strangers come into the house and stand next to or even sit with it being 3 feet away, I do though push the cab tight against the wall as soon as the doorbell rings, which being Halloween last night was a few times. if the cops were looking for a grow then I`m sure they would find it but only after they had searched the house and loft. and right now I`m smoking some nice oil, home made of course :-)

I don't want certain people to know I have a grow going because they will talk and next thing you know your house/apt is broken into and everything is gone. Also If you are growing for personal use only you really don't need much more than a cab. As far as the Electric usage on a stealth grow should be very hard to notice.

I built mine because I'm a personal stash grower which means I don't want people to know. Mine can be shut completely down with one switch located on the back of the cabinet. I usually leave the doors cracked open for extra ventilation but once the front door bell rings at my house, I shut the cabinet doors and lock her down. Nobody suspects a thing even when they're standing beside it. It's not as much about being stealth for me as being incognito.
