ive recently bought a 100 watt hps bulb thinking that i could js go home n put it in my regular 100 watt max cfl cord n it didnt work...im in fowering rite now n i really need an hps light...help!!!:wall::wall::wall::?::?:

You have 2 options. Go to where you bought the bulb and buy the light it goes in (probably an outside flood light costing $100) or go to any decent growing supply store or website and buy a HPS complete setup. HTG supply sells 175W lights complete for less than $100. Be back. Wife makes me go outside to smoke.

At my hydro store they sell 100 w 2700k CFLs for $77. It would kick the shit out of a 100 w HPS. They are supposed to be the equivalent of 400 w. Much cheaper than HID without the heat issues.

Get some knowledge before posting bro. Light ouput from an HPS is up to 140 lumens per watt vs. 40 max lumens per watt with fluos. And for $77 the dude can get a 175 watt HPS at High Tech.

Who does your research? Apx 65 lumens per watt is the norm. Get your facts straight dude. No need to be an ass.

Efficacy and efficiency
For more details on this topic, see Luminous efficacy.

Because the eye's sensitivity changes with the wavelength, the output of lamps is commonly measured in lumens, a measure that accounts for the effect of the source's spectrum on the eye.

The luminous efficacy of CFL sources is typically 60 to 72 lumens per input watt of electric power,

Ok lets say you are right. How does 60-70 watts per lumen "kick the shit out of" a light that puts out 140?
