what do you think about the "plant lights"?

i am using 4 foot fluor's from home depot that said "plant lights"on the box...are these any good? if so cool if not what type of fluors do ineed to get?

T5 HO are the best flourescents. If your looking for cheaper, then go with T8's or CFL's. I dont think there is anything special about the plant lights.

By "Plant Lights" I take it that you mean those Purple ones. Yeah, they're a bunch of crap - they suck! T-5 flouros tend to be a little on the expensive side for beginners, and they don't fit "regular" shoplight fixtures. If you're working on a budget stick with T-8 or T-12 tubes (whichever fit your fixture).

Whichever size you use, there are two things to remember:
1. Get the highest power rating that will work in your fixture.
2. Use the correct spectrum tubes (6,500 K for vegging - 2,700 K for flowering, or as close to those #'s as you can get).

my mate used a 250w cfl bulb from envirolite and his plants are amazing !!! there 2weeks old and bigger than alot @ 3weeks i have loook @ under a 400w hps +

there is just so much new foliage if u use cfl's i will advise a 250w bulb if u want to grow a mother to take cuttings from this will certainly do the trick for that to !
