What do you guys think of my idea to induce flowering?

I live at 55deg N. in Canada so there are few (I'm not sure there are any whatsoever actually) regular strains that will finish by October since the july daylength is 1 hour longer than more southern places like Ottawa (where the seeds Im wanting to grow were bred). Everything else about my climate is almost identical except mine is a little better since its a little less humid in the fall and a little cooler in the summer time. My ONLY obstacle is the 1 hour of extra daylight in july when the plants are supposed to start flowering.

So now you understand my dilemma, here's my proposed solution:

A slight modification to the garbage bag method:

1. Keep plants in 3 gal pots
2. Starting July 1st, cover the plants with a couple 95gal garbage bags (one from bottom and one from top) aprox 1 hour before sunset or synchronized with Ottawa's sunset.
3. Move plants into a dark shady area so they are impossible to see from above
3. Aprox. 1-2 hours later, after the sun has set, move the plants to their original location and remove the garbage bags so mold doesnt set in.
4. Aprox. 4-6 weeks later, once flowering is under way and our daylength has become much closer to Ottawa's, put the plants in the ground and let nature do the rest.

Now, our days start getting shorter at a much faster rate than Ottawa so I think Ill only have to do it for about a month. (which Im fine with) and I really dont think having a bag on the plant for an hour or two is going to have any effect on mold. My only concern is that the bag will let too much light in but I learned of this method on this forum and people say it works, so Ill trust their experience over my skepticism and give it a shot I think.

What do you guys think?

p.s.- If I am wrong and there actually are NON-autoflowering strains (including iranian auto flower) that will finish at 55deg N. by the end of September please let me know!
here is my climate info:untitled.jpg

p.p.s- the strains I want to grow are Endless Sky, and Iranian Chemdawg. (dr greenthumb)

Thanks everyone!

i found a product that would work even better than the garbage bags but its literally 100x the price. It has no bottom so I wouldnt have to transplant from 3 gal pots and it takes seconds to setup and pack up. What do you guys think? (I would paint the inside with a flexible black opaque paint to block light transmission. AND ITS CAMO

I used garbage bags on a couple of my smaller ones to induce flowering and it worked. They are about a 10 days ahead of the rest. I wouldn't worry to much about whats goin on in Ottawa and just focus on keeping the amount of light under 14hrs when you want them to flower.

isn't this called light depo? When you force flowering by putting it into 12/12? sorry, just asking because I'm a bit confused.

Geez and i thought light depo was a great place to buy discount lighting lol. Light deprivation might be the term you are looking for.

Just bag em ... it works. Your theory is fine. And its worth a shot. Really your growing season is jsut a bit shorter than mine but iver done it. I live at 51. I actualy used to throw them all on a flatbed trailer and dump them in my garage 2 hours before sundown for a week. It didnt take long and stress was minimal.

Also , with the 5 gallon pails, I found a much better solution that doesnt need the ground, just needs regular watering by yourself instead of living off run off . Rubbermaid totes, their cheap as shit now and work wonders, Ive grown 6foot plus out of them no problems with roots the size of my middle finger.

Are you worried about the onset of winter before your buds ripen up? Just sounds like a hell of a lot of work and trouble to go through otherwise.

You might want to consider some Iranian or Iranian crosses in the future if you get tired of bagging your groceries. They'll likely finish long before October.
