3.5 x 3.5 Closet in a spare bedroom. Master Kush put into 14 gallon DWC tub 5 days ago :leaf:

600 watt mh/hps 3 ft from babies.
Advanced micro/grow/bloom nutes

Closet door is left open 24/7, Bedroom door is left open when possible but when it has to be closed temps get as high as 86 degrees and when left open it still gets between 81 and 84 degrees with the light on. Air purifier inside room, small fan blowing air down and large box fan blowing air in. ALL FANS ARE ON HIGH, EVEN THE 435 VORTEX!

I understand I am running a 600 watter in a 3.5 x 3.5ft closet and a 435cfm fan sucking air from the light and spitting it out into the bedroom. I also realize this set up sucks as the air being pulled out into the room is eventually coming back into the closet.:spew::spew: However, I live in a 1st floor apartment so I CAN'T exhaust out through a window or through the attic so I have to make this work.

Its far from an ideal grow in an apartment but I will be scrogging just a couple plants at most and from what I've read master kush doesnt stink bad at all but I guess we'll find out. :-D

Light>ducting>Fan>ducting>BEDROOM

I have a carbon scrubber a friend donated that needs new carbon so I need to figure out whether I can replace the carbon and get it working or buy a new one. Either way, I'm just trying to get the room cooled first.

Plants are surviving but they dont look as healthy as I would like them.

HERE ARE SOME PICS. TELL ME WATCHA THINK kiss-ass

Thanks :peace:

Are you doing 24/0? If so, I might switch to 18/6 and make the dark period coincide with the heat of the day. Also, look on CL for a portable A/C unit. 86 as a high temp is not ideal, but it is not too bad either.

I use co2 in my grow shed. The temps have been reaching 85-90 degrees on warm days, and the girls luv it. They are growing at an unbelievable rate.

co2 is a good idea but for a 3.5 x 3.5 ft area? would that be worth it or just a waste of $$$? i always figured co2 was used to cover a much bigger area, other then that it would be a waste

yea 85F is not that bad as long as it is your highest temp/ canopy temp and try get you RH at 30% for 12/12, I have just grown with RH 20% veg and flower and my nugs are dank as fuck!

your first mistake is having the fans blowing down heat rises have the fans blowing from the bottom up or u can always get a mini air conditioner and put it in the but they r pretty expensive. also a good idea would to be get a light tube from discounthydro.com you can hook up a lil fan to one side so it cools the buld that might cut down on ur heat hopes this helps .......later bros

Plants breathe in Co2, so unless you are supplying a source of fresh air, you will need to suppliment Co2.

I didn't tell you to "buy" anything. You COULD... but you don't have to.

During the day, plants breathe IN carbon dioxide (Co2) and breathe OUT oxygen. Since you are sucking the air out of your tent, and exhasuting into the room next door ... that air is just ruinning straight back to the tent! As the plants breathe, they use the available Co2 and the air becomes stale to them (not to us cuz we breathe oxygen).

Thanks for explaining.

if i understood correctly i seen you had duct work with a fan connected to it to blow directly on the light. well why dont you use a fan with a higher output so it blows more air over the bulb since its the source of your heat. maybe go to lowes or home depot and get a small turbo fan of some sort. i could imagine the fan you have hooked up now is cooling the light bulb well. but you have a 600 watt bulb so you probably need a bigger or stronger fan to blow directly on the bulb. in all reality if you went to lowes and got a turbo fan and hooked it up it could cool the room by 5 degrees. maybe more cuz its such a small closet. and that would put ya around 80 degrees

I'd get a strong inline fan and suck the heat out of the apartment instead of in the next room over, why can't you because you're on the 1st floor? I forget the name of the movie I saw this in but they built a box over the window so the shades could still be drawn and exhaust out the window. I created something in MSPAINT real quick to try to re-create that.

Thanks brother!! Took your advice, switched to 18/6 so they are now in the dark between the hottest part of the day which is 2pm here so i have the light turn off at 11am-5pm. This lowered the high and low temp by about 3 degrees! Plus I save a little on electricity so it all works.

Thanks man, but I think security would be an issue with exhausting out the window. i would have to still have the window open if i put a box over it to hide it. The airs gotta get out of there some how! Too many hoodlums here to consider leaving the window open of the room with the trees lol

Check this out, it may help:

Your babies don't look bad. Those temps aren't near as bad as they could be. Turn your heat down a bit if you can. Oh - and those girls definately will smell when they're older, so be prepared for that.
Yeah, I have that carbon filter I need to see if I can replace or buy a new one but i have a little while before that'll happen so I have some time. Ill defly be having a carbon scrubber and a couple a tubs of ona gel in this apartment for sure!

Just checked on my temps. 81 with the light on. thats usually what they are at night with it turned on, during the day i think it gets upto 84 in there. Low of 73 with light off at night so its a change of 13 degrees, not bad i think.
RH= Low 30% - High 50%

true. i totally agree and thanks for pointing that out. i fixed the fan and placed it towards the bottom on the the floor across from the air purifier, so all the air the air purifier now spits out gets blown towards the fan blowing up.

ill have to check out that light u mentioned. ill most likely will do a homemade (low on $$$ now) small computer fan and fit it in the other side of the cool tube to cool the bulb a better
