Weird problem, not sure whats going on

What would you think would cause a problem like this: Sorry no pics - the top of the plant has small leaves compared to the rest of the plant that are spaced very very close together. These leaves probably measure an inch long. The top leaves are dark green, but the veins are like a lime green color. The third thing is, there are tons of long white hairs in all the right spots, but no buds are forming at all. The plant is Ice, and the other Ice plants are forming decent sized buds. The plants were sent into a 12/12 light cycle on Feb. 5, switched from a 600w mh to a 600w hps, no light leaks. There is also another plant that has small formed buds at the top with very close leaf formations that are fairly small. One plant has dark green leaves, but the tips curl under and they feel kind of leathery.

What are you feeding them now in terms of NPKs. Do you know how many weeks that strain takes to mature?

The reason I ask about NPKs is that for some plant families of the cannabis variety, too much nitrogen during budding will force them back into vegging again....in particular some of the more hard core sativa strains.

Other than that guess, its hard to tell without seeing photos.

as jonus said its hard to say whats wrong without pics. is it the fact that all the leaves are really close together on top and tightly packed because this is just how some strains are. i have one plant which sounds similar to what your talking about and it took quite a while for the buds to start to swell up but as you say theres lots of hairs. ill try show you a pick later.

There are 4 of the same strain, Ice from Nirvana, and it takes, from what their website says, 8 to 9 weeks to finish. They were sent into flowering on Feb. 5 so that makes them 7 weeks into flowering. 3 of the plants have well formed buds on them, lots of nice crystals all over, practically turning the plant white. But the fourth one, it doesn't really have any trichomes on it, but has tons of fairly long and thick white hairs at all the bud sites. The hairs probably measure half an inch in length. I thought I read somewhere that there is a deficiency if the top of the plant grows with very short internodes. The spacing between them are probably like 1/4 to 1/2 an inch apart, almost like it's stunted. As for the dark green leaves, they are very very dark green, looks almost like a dark green pine tree. I thought it could be an over load of nitrogen, but I haven't really given it any extra nitrogen than what comes in the regular 10-54-10 fert. that is being used. Any idea as to why the veins on all the top leaves are a neon green color.

Luc, the other 3 ice plants don't have the close internodes and small leaves at the top like the 1 does. Not sure if the one ice could just be a deformity in that plant, or possibly it takes most of it genes from a different strain that could have been breed into that particular Ice strain. Nirvana says they are mostly Indica, so that would make me guess it could be taking on more Sativa traits, even though it's no taller than the rest, and the leaves are all shaped the same.

The NPK ratio of the nutes being used is 10-54-10, using full strength on all plants. There are 2 other bagseed plants, was told it's Kush. They look similar to the one ice plant with the short internodes at the top, but they are actually forming small buds at the top. The top bud on the two Kush plants are probably around 1/4 inch across. Again, sorry for not having pics, that does make the diagnosis a little harder.

Just so you know, Ice is a fast-finishing strain, I grew it in my journal, and have some more babies going, right now. You should have a few different phenotypes, with the fastest-finishing right at week 8(give or take a couple days), and the latest finishing at 9, or a couple days more. That's under a 600 HPS, with a relatively problem-free grow. Problems can delay things a little. Too much nitrogen, is a good one for that, but from the sounds of it, you haven't been heavy on the N. You have been heavy on the fert though, which might be your problem. That stuff is too strong for full strength, and might be the core issue here. Hmm.... If I were you, I'd flush them thoroughly, then go with 1/4 strength, and don't step up strength, after that. Keep feeding, but at the same dose. I fed mine with 3-12-6,(plus calmag and Protekt) every watering,(approx every 4 days, in 4 gallon pots) and they did great. At 1/4 strength, your dose would be very similar.
