Is it un usual to have to water everyday outside ?

a small pot will dry out quick on a warm breezy day. never give a little bit, always water thoroughly.

No, depending on the plant size, and the overall temp and humidity outside.

If you are not in a humid area with a lot of rain you can hit them with water every other day if you wish.

I've grown outside and I find that a everyother day watering is good. Don't forget the nutes .Start gradually and build up to max over plants life.Then when ready to harvest,Flush for a couple of days with clear water.
