I say give em 4 turkey basters a day, very slowly dripping the water from the stem to the edge of the pot while turning it so you cover all the ground. No run off necessary.

Works for me.

your own circumstances will be determined mostly by trial and error. there are FAQs and amny threads, the search function might provide some assistance.

my understanding is that if you water too often then the roots won't have to search for water. That means they won't grow to fill the container because they don't have to. I water my plants once every 3 to 5 days. You should water enough for water to run out of the bottom so as to get the entire medium. It's up to you but you don't want your plants sitting in puddles cause the roots will rot and they will die. hope this helps:peace:

also it depends on what stage of life your plants are in, seedlings roots need to constant moisture, again not saturated with puddles but wet, you get me?

If you keep an careful eye on your plants and soil, you will know when to water them. The soil turns lighter, stick your finger in all the way, is it still wet? The soil may even start to pull away from the sides at the top of the pot.The leaves should get a bit lighter too. This is when to water. I water mine every 7 to 10 days depending on the size of pot and amount of moisture still left in it. I don't let it dry right out, but dry enough that it needs water without stressing your plant out.:peace:
