water them when they need it, dont just simply water them on a strict timetable
give them water when the top of the soil dries out and if your not sure poke ur finger in a bit and if its dry its watering time
and water until water begins to come out of the bottom
if your waiting till the soil dries out before watering again and your plant begins to droop, it means you arent watering it enough and letting it get to dry

Did I offend you? I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I like to inject a little humor, something which is lost on some people.
Where does your runoff go? I guess I'm not understanding your setup. If you can't see runoff then I would suggest you soak your pots really good each time you water. Overwatering isn't a problem unless you water every day and keep your soil wet. Also perlite or something similar to loosen up your soil and aerate the medium helps prevent overwatering. Number 1...., No 1 what you may ask.... Well, if I asked how much water should a 16 year old drink would you give me the answer? A 24 year old? 45? 63? What about a baby? The plants as humans will show/tell when they are thirsty, but let the soil dry slightly, then water, half a day, a week, whatever! Let it dry a little, or you´ll do what most of us already have done! Overwatering, and that is worse than starving a couple of hrs. Been there, done that... And I have official agricultural education, but don´t know shit about MJ yet....
So no. 1...., for me this tops the list of stupid questions when it comes to plants, and humans for that sake..... If you ask how humid the soil should be....., well thats a good question!

I did 5 gallon buckets last year and i was watering like once a week 1-2 gallons or so.. I didnt catch whether they were indoor or outdo but temp, airflow, rainfall, etc will come into play. IMO its not an exact science just water when they are dry. These little plants are surprisingly tough dont be scared to let it dry up.
