Watering System

Basics:

My plants are at one house, I am at another therefore I only see that plants on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. As they get bigger they are needing more water and i tend to comeback to find them asking for water, lots of it. I don't really have the money for a major bubble pot, NFT, Ebb and Flood ect. systems nor the effort to build my own.

Therefore I want to ask if anyone has used this before:

AutoPot Easy2Grow
http://www.3ch.co.uk/hydro-systems/autopot/pot-culture/autopot-easy2grow-kit/prod_562.html

It is basically at 47 Litre tank that feeds water down to an aquavalve which then waters the plant at the right time. Im not quite sure if you can set up a watering schedule but it looks good for the price.

So has anyone used this before, reviews, pros/cons, subsitute item?

Thanks
Josh

simple and cheap - http://www.amazon.com/Ceramic-Watering-Spike/dp/B001RV2CXE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1270241803&sr=8-3 - water spikes that screw into two liter soda pop bottles. i've left my plants for five days with no problems.

kinda funny as this is one of three threads on watering plants remotely. must be spring vacation or something.
How do you control the water flow with that spie, it looks like all the water would just seep in and flood it.

i'll admit i don't understand how it works, but it does. the green spike is screwed onto the 2 liter bottle, then the spike goes into the ceramic sleeve, then the whole thing into the ground. gravity probably creates a seal but i don't know how the water seeps out.
