Watering Questions

I'm coming down to my starting day (just a few more things to order) but i still have a few questions primarily regarding watering etc etc... I see all the nutes i bought saying their measurements being so and so to 1 gallon. The questions i have are probably really simple but it'd be better to ask then find out the hard way.

How do i tell how much water my plants need?

How do i tell when my plants need watering?

Should i ease the plants on to fox farms products slowly or just go full blast after the nutes in the soil have worn away?

Imo I usually water untill i get a bit of runoff, I like to keep my soil well flushed so i have no salt buildup. I water when the soil is dry about 2" down and feels light.
As for the fox farm nutes, I have no experiance with them but I believe I've read to start with 1/4 or 1/2 strength.

I would start up the nutes 1/4 strength for any plant. If you over do it and the plant can't handle the nutes, it will get nutrient lockup and won't be able to absorb anything. This will slow you grow because you would need to give your plant time to recoup. I agree with tje22, water until you see a little of run off (important to get nice even water to avoid dry spots in soil). Then when the top couple of inches is dry, re-water. After awhile you will be able to tell when to water by the weight of the pot. Lift the pot after you water to feel how heavy it is and lift again the next time you rewater. When the pot feels too light you know it needs water.
