watering every 24-36 hours???

I watered 36 hours ago. Before I went to bed last night I did a quick check to make sure the soil was still moist, and it was. This morning I woke up and two of my plants are drooping and the one the entire top part of the plant was drooped over. I look at the soil and the stuff is nearly bone dry!

So I water them well - Check on them in 20-30 minutes. Good as new! :weed:

Do these plants sometimes just drink an insane amount of water in a short time? I dont know my humidity until later today when my delivery arrives but the outdoor humidity has been 60-80% lately and though I'm running an ac unit in there, I dont think it would drop it that much considering there is fresh air constantly being drawn in.

I guess its better then over watering but I would also think this slows down rapid growth so I'd like to be able prevent it in the future.

Any help would be appreciated!

how big are your pots? the usual reason for having to water too frequently is that your pots are too small.

That is the sign of underwatering and all I can say is good for you. Everyone always overwaters which will kill the plant fast than what you did.

Take a note of it and water a little more frequently. Then the more grows you do you will have it down to a science if you keep notes, you'll know how many milli litres to water it every other day.

So underwatering is going to make the plants droopy as hell? I have a plant from my grow where i looked at it last night seemed fine, then this afternoon and evening i checked on it twice and it was droopy with the leaves laying flat on the stem...is this from underwatering?

Underwatering and overwatering looked the same now that I did both on accident. I've been using the finger in the soil technique... then waiting another 12 hours once I notice the soil is good and dry a little ways down. Havne't had a problem since. Probably not the most scientific way... but hell... it works so far.

Disclaimer - I'm a newb sharin my experience... right or wrong... so dont quote me as gospel!

Went from cups to the pots their in now which if you check out my journal at the link below you can see the size. Soon they will be transplated to their final homes which are 14" pots... believe they are at or maybe a little bigger then 5 gallons.

For what its worth... I haven't had the problem since... nor have I had the plants drink that much in that short of a period again. I've been watering every 3 or 4 days.

That's crazy how fast they resond to a little water! My one plant that had flat droopy leaves and looked terrible an hour ago, i gave it some water and it looks great now, only about 20 minutes after receiving the water! That makes me relieved...its pretty sweet though! Since im kinda new at this I thought I overwatered in my first grow, so I wasn't expecting it to be underwatered, i thought maybe it just needed some ventilation. Its cool to know that if I have a question on something with my grow I can come here and find good answers very quick. Nice thread.

You are right it is crazy, the first time it happened to me I thought I killed the plant, I just watered it just in case because I read it might just be underwatered. IT just springs back to life, unbelieveable.

I smell a project... Who's got 20 plants and some time on their hands?

Water the plants 30 seconds apart... time lapse movie over the next 30 minutes.

LOL
