Water pump question.

Hello, just a quick one.

I grow in coco plus and feed by hand out of a barrel I fill weekly. I've never used an air stone or anything and not really had any problems

Is this more for an auto feed system? Or should I be using one?

If so what sort of pump would I need for a 200 litre barrel

Since the roots aren't bathed in the water constantly, there's little need for oxygenation.

If you want to do an auto feed system, you will need to use a short cycle timer- and a vacuum breaker right where the line goes up and over the edge of your nutrient reservoir. The short cycle timer allows you to control how much the plants are watered and how often. The vacuum breaker keeps the entire contents of the nute barrel safely in it when the pump stops- otherwise the siphon effect could well empty the whole barrel into your plants.

Appreciate the reply, not looking on changing feeding method I like doing it by hand. Was just curious if i would benefit from getting one

Thanks again
