water levels in a flood and drain?

ok im about to start on my first proper hydro using a flood and drain setup ive make with some buckets

my medium will be hydroton

and i have a couple quick questions i need answered.

1) how high up the root system should the water level come to?

2) i have clones in juffy cubes, will these still be good to use in hydroton or should i clone a few more into rockwool or something diffrent first or could i just use the hydroton to stick cuttings in?

thanks guys

dont we all brother....:-P

you can flood them as high up the roots as you want to. it's the medium that the cutting/seedling is in that makes the problems.

as a general rule , follow this. with rw, rapid rooters or peat plugs ....you want the roots to get water not the medium the plant stalk is supported by.

2) i have clones in juffy cubes, will these still be good to use in hydroton or should i clone a few more into rockwool or something diffrent first or could i just use the hydroton to stick cuttings in?
i would use rw cubes or rapid rooters. but with the hydroton in the bottom it wont make much difference in your set up.

thanks guys
de' nada
