Washing bad soil away from roots?

Is this ok to do? I have a pair of seedlings working on their 4th nodes right now. They are a couple inches tall, maybe 4" or so. When I originally started I used top soil from lowes which had no nutes and no drainage and it was very muddy... A few days after sprout I transplanted them in some coco soil... they seem to be doing a little better... I didnt remove any of that mud soil and im sure its effecting growth... Would it be harmful to my plants if I dumped all the soil out and rinsed the roots off with fresh water and then replanted in brand new clean soil that is better suited for what I need?
