during all stages of growth a broad spectrum of light is better than a narrow band. I have a 4-4" T8 ballast that I use 3 to 1 ratio on. so for veg I have 3~6500K and 1~3000K and the opposite ratio for flowering. its not perfect but better than when i just had all warm or all daylight that's certain. Check out Roseman's grows, I think he mentions spectrum ratios in a thread, if not him just browse some of the more successful CFL grow journals. the truth is out there...........
