Want to grow hydro but struggling with seeds? Try this!

So ive told a bunch of people about this and everyone ive seen do it has had good success. This is how I start all my seeds and transition them into rdwc. This method will work fine for any form of hydro you might use a rockwool cube or rapid rooter to start seeds in.

I use a mixture of perlite and coco in double layer seedling trays.
Cloner mix is tap water + Dyna-Gro KLN+protekt at recommended rates plus a half dose of southern ag garden friendly fungicide. I use a 5 min on/5 min off timer to keep my temps from going above 80F.

-I soak seeds for 12-24 hrs first.
-clean everything! I use iso alcohol and peroxide for everything.
-mix perlite and coco + add water. I don't add nutrient. You want lots of perlite to keep the mixture loose and quick draining.
-fill trays while squeezing excess moisture out with each handful and let excess water drain from coco mixture.
-plant seeds! Only need about 1/4". I gently scrape some coco fibers over them to cover.
-add water to bottom of tray. Just enough to cover the bottom. You dont want it to get sucked up into the coco in the top tray.
-cover with vented humidity dome. (Drill some 1/4" or so holes in the top if its not vented.) Remove lid daily for a quick check and an air refresh.
-NO HEATING MAT! Only use a heating mat if you don't have somewhere warm to put the trays. 75F+ and humid as possible is good for them. If you dont have a warm space, put something between the heating mat and your trays so he tray doesn't touch the mat. Too much heat from a mat will cause too much humidity and the condensation will drip off the lid and potentially keep your babies too wet.
-let grow for about a week. 4-5 days above ground is usually plenty. Just wait until the 2nd pair of leaves is about as big as the cotyledons.
-gently dig them up. (Wear gloves). I use a small piece of wire fencing I trimmed off to gently scrape the drift out from around it.
-gently spray root clean with water.
-transplant into cloner. I cut some of my inserts in half so they were thinner for the tiny seedlings.
-Leave alone for a week or two. They will stall for up to a week while they start to root. Watch for new roots forming off the tap root similar to a clone.
-once they have a few nodes and established roots, add a small amount of nutrient. I start with like 1/8th strength. Maybe 200ppm total in the water.
-wait until they are big enough to transplant. They will explode eventually.

Tansplant pics
Cut a hole in the bottom of your pot and feed your roots through it then gently fill in around it with your hydroton.
You will tear some roots off. Thats fine. Thats why we wait until the plants are well established.

Good looking plants man!!

I do almost the same thing, except I only use perlite - no coco - in small 'hempy bucket' dixie cups. I start mine off with 200PPM from day one though. After about a week, I transplant straight into the aero chamber. Like yours, mine take maybe another week to really take off.

@fragileassassin do you have a link for those nozzles? Looks like your using 19 of them? What pump are you running? Lastly, do you have a better pic of the collars? Sorry for all the questions! I'm just finishing up my lighting today and have everything else for my tent but I definitely need to build one of these now... Looks like a solid setup!
