So there is this new website called silkroad where you can buy ANYTHING anonymously. I suppose you need a fake address or drop point to ship it to but still its an interesting idea. I am thinking bitcoin could be a lucrative investment but it will only be a matter of time before it gets shutdown. The "portal" is already "down" but the market is still up. google "silk road tor" for a how to on connecting.

The only problem with silk road is it's only going to take one police officer who creates a fake account and pretends to sell something to ruin the whole thing.

Think about that for just a minute okay? First of all, that might be entraptment. Second of all, the only thing said police officer can do is arrest someone in their OWN jurisdiction. Feds? DEA? Not Profitable. DEA/Feds are little more than an extortion racket. There's no profit to be made here unless the attempt is to undermine public confidence in anonymous transactions through a handful of publicized busts. Doing things the way you suggest LE might has several problems.

1. Not enough resources to arrest all users.
2. Arresting all users would dry up demand for their thuggery market.
3. Nothing to extort from anonymous buyers. Sure you give them your address but who are you going to snitch on for them? Anyone else you bought from on SR is anonymous.

Biggest threat toward buying anonymously is ripoffs. Accounts with higher rep will be able to sell a higher price for those wanting less risk for larger purchases. Newer sellers will sell cheaper, smaller quantities to gain rep etc. This system really could work to overgrow the fascist thuggery & its systematic lies & abuse.

The problem law enforcement is going to have with doing large-scale busts over something like the silk-road is they can't send real drugs to get a decent reputation. They are going to be flagged quickly as a rip-off because they either won't send real drugs or it will be a carefully controlled bust. Either way your not getting good user feedback. They will only be able to bust the few people willing to give a new seller a try. Want to avoid cops, avoid anyone who you cant be certain has sent real drugs before. They might takeover an account after an unrelated bust but come-on buying prohibited substances is never without risk.

One thing to consider is that the person who is selling might keep the information you give them as a bargaining chip if they ever get busted. This is especially true for regular customers who want quantity. Shipping it to a third party (dead drop or friend with a clean nose) is a good thing.

With all that said there are a few "companies" operating online with little protection that offer (US) schedule 2 narcotics that have proven surprisingly resilient to law enforcement, and I have heard of no major law enforcement attempts to bust people with a fake BI (blatantly illegal) online pharmacy. Similarly I have not heard of a police operated mail-order-marijuana operation or seedbank. If law enforcement has gone that route before I am not aware of it.

What ever you do have it shipped USPS not UPS or FedEx (oh dear God don't use FedEx) and pay in bitcoin.

edit: Oh and as a fan of cyberpunk let me say that it is so wonderful to see the digital black market emerging.

If it's any indicator bitcoins spiked to $30USD and fell back to $20USD frustrating newbie investors unable to fully comprehend the true nature of the beast. Still, another shipment of 58xx's came back in stock and sold out within the day with 5830's still proposing entry level computation capabilities any latecomer would grab.

Bam bitcoin crash and I quote "Huge Bitcoin sell off due to a compromised account - rollback"
That's the problem with virtual currency ... it can be hacked. They aren't even listing a stock price atm. Looks like the end of bitcoin, not how I pictured it, but still not good.
