Purple lights with mechanical fans are outdated technology. I personally think you would be better off with a higher wattage Panel LED or pair of Panel LEDs if your goal is to upgrade from the existing ones.

That's the thing really, i would like to bring the wattage down slightly but don't won't to effect the yield if that's even possible, the two 1500s come to a total of 300watts vs the r900 at 418watts

Lower wattage of higher quality light will give you better returns than those lights.
